Overview
Schwartz holds a PhD from Harvard and was a professor at Yale before joining the University of Arizona, where he directs the Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness and Health. His "Afterlife Experiments" involved testing mediums under increasingly controlled conditions, culminating in "proxy sitter" designs where the experimenter did not know the sitter, the sitter did not meet the medium, and the medium received only a first name. Reported medium accuracy rates — particularly for names, causes of death, and personality descriptions — significantly exceeded the chance baseline established by control readings.
